Heating Equipment
Silicone rubber heaters are a type of flexible heater. They are typically made of two or more layers of fiberglass-reinforced silicone rubber. The texture of silicone rubber can be either smooth or rough, each offering its own advantages.
Wire-wound or etched foil heating elements are insulated between the layers of silicone rubber. These types of heaters perform well in various low watt-density applications, such as:
Freeze protection
Condensation evaporation
Food processing and preparation
Battery warming
Component repair
Curing and bonding
And more...
Silicone rubber heaters are ideal for applications with limited space. Depending on the texture, this material can withstand many adverse conditions. These heaters can be used with various clamping and mounting options for convenient and quick installation.
Benefits
Highly Customizable
SINTON silicone rubber heaters can be manufactured to meet customer specifications. They can be designed in a wide range of shapes and sizes, incorporating holes and cutouts to accommodate irregular geometries. SINTON offers multiple lead wire exit configurations and a broad selection of electrical terminals. Available mounting options include clamping mechanisms, mechanical fasteners, and permanent solutions such as pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) and vulcanization.
Vulcanization to Components
SINTON silicone rubber heaters can be vulcanized onto rigid surfaces such as bare aluminum, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, and marble. Factory-vulcanized heaters simplify the installation process while ensuring superior heat transfer efficiency.
High Performance in Harsh Environments
SINTON silicone rubber heaters are engineered to operate reliably in extreme conditions, including outdoor exposure, fluctuating ambient temperatures, contact with contaminants and moisture, compression set, and vacuum applications. The standard rough-textured silicone offers enhanced durability, while the optional smooth silicone provides greater flexibility, dirt resistance, and is recommended for applications requiring a permanent installation solution.
Formable Designs
While standard silicone rubber heaters are flat, SINTON can custom-form them into specific diameters or unique shapes to better conform to application requirements.
Integrated Temperature Control
These heaters can be equipped with a variety of temperature sensors and control devices for precise thermal management. Thermostats, thermal fuses, thermocouples, thermistors, and RTDs can be directly embedded into the heater to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Limited to Low Watt Density Applications
Silicone rubber heaters perform optimally in applications with watt densities ranging from 0.5 W/in² to 5 W/in². High power density applications are not recommended, as they may significantly reduce the heater's expected lifespan. For applications requiring higher watt densities, mica band heaters or mica-insulated strip heaters may be more suitable alternatives.
Moisture-Resistant, Not Waterproof
While silicone rubber heaters can withstand humid or damp environments, they are not fully waterproof and should not be submerged or directly exposed to liquids and contaminants. For applications involving liquid immersion, SINTON’s tubular heating elements, which are used in several of our process immersion heaters, may be a more suitable choice.
